Web to PDF

Turn any website into a beautiful PDF

Stop wrestling with ugly browser print dialogs. Pretty PDF converts any webpage into a clean, professionally styled document — with ads, navigation, and clutter removed automatically.

Free — 3 PDFs per month. No credit card required.

The problem

Browser PDF is broken

Every time you press Ctrl+P to save a webpage as PDF, you get a document full of junk. Here's what goes wrong.

Ads and banners everywhere

Banner ads, popup remnants, and sponsored content blocks litter your PDF. You wanted the article, not the advertising.

Navigation and sidebars included

The header, footer, sidebar, menu, and cookie banner all make it into the PDF. Half the pages are content you didn't want.

Unwanted headers and footers

The URL, date, and page title stamped across every page. Chrome adds these automatically and they're surprisingly hard to remove.

Broken layouts and missing images

Responsive designs collapse, images disappear, tables overflow the page, and code blocks get cut off. The PDF looks nothing like the webpage.

Why server-side PDF generation produces better results

When you press Ctrl+P in your browser, the browser uses its built-in print engine to render the page. This is fast but crude — it applies a generic print stylesheet to whatever is currently on screen, including ads, navigation, cookie banners, and everything else.

Pretty PDF works differently. Your browser extension captures the page HTML and sends it to our server, where three things happen:

  1. Content extraction — Our engine analyzes the page structure, identifies the main article or content area, and strips away everything else. This uses the same kind of algorithms behind reader mode in browsers, but tuned specifically for PDF output.
  2. Template styling — Your chosen template's CSS is applied. This includes professional typography with embedded fonts (Fraunces for headings, Instrument Sans for body text), proper page margins, and careful handling of images, tables, and code blocks.
  3. PDF rendering — WeasyPrint, a professional-grade PDF engine, renders the final document. Unlike browser print, it handles CSS paged media properly: page breaks, orphan/widow control, running headers, and consistent cross-platform output.

The result is a PDF that looks like a designed document, not a webpage screenshot.

Who benefits from web-to-PDF conversion

Converting websites to PDF isn't just about saving articles. Teams and professionals use it across every industry:

  • Researchers and students save reference material from journals, documentation, and knowledge bases. The cloud library keeps sources organized and searchable.
  • Marketing teams archive competitor content, save inspiration, and build swipe files. Branded templates keep internal documents consistent.
  • Legal and compliance teams create permanent, timestamped records of web content — terms of service changes, regulatory filings, and public statements.
  • Developers save Stack Overflow answers, GitHub issues, and documentation for offline reference. The API automates bulk conversion for documentation pipelines.
  • Sales teams save prospect company pages, case studies, and press releases as professional documents for deal preparation.
  • Project managers archive Confluence pages, Jira issues, and project documentation as permanent records outside the tool.

Free tier vs paid plans

Pretty PDF's free tier gives you 3 PDFs per month with all 5 templates and full content extraction. No credit card, no account required to start. That covers most casual use.

When you need more, paid plans unlock higher limits, custom branding, cloud storage, and API access. The processing happens on our servers — WeasyPrint rendering, content extraction algorithms, embedded font licensing, and maintaining custom parsers for 8+ platforms all require real infrastructure. Paid plans keep the service running and improving.

  • Pro ($5/mo) — 50 PDFs/month, custom templates, branded headers & footers, print profiles
  • Pro+ ($12/mo) — Unlimited PDFs, 25 GB cloud library, API access (200 req/mo)
  • Team ($8/user/mo) — Shared templates, shared library, team management
